Player XP has introduced Toxicity Analysis, a highly anticipated feature in the gaming industry. This feature will enable your studio to monitor the well-being of your community and act on any player toxicity taking place so you can foster a healthier playerbase.
Toxicity metrics can be found in the Dynamic Report of your game, in the 'Toxicity Summary' module as seen below.
The Toxicity Summary shows your game's average Toxicity rating over the selected date range, in this example, we are looking at the game's All-Time data. As we can see from the example above, this game has a Toxicity rating of -17 within the selected period. Toxicity is scored on a 198-point basis from -99 to 99. A game with a toxicity score of -99 has no toxic comments, while a score of 0 means it's in line with the industry average. At a score of 50, the game has twice as much toxicity as the average, and at a score of 99, the game is overwhelmingly toxic.
The other metrics you can see are Interactions and Estimated Community Size. The Interactions count is how many toxic interactions have been found in your game's community. Estimated Community Size is how many players were estimated to have left a toxic comment or interaction. Below these, you can also see the Toxicity categories and the percentage of your game's toxic interactions that fit into each category.
The Sources table shows you the number of interactions and the average sentiment for each data source for your game. The Topics table shows you the topics of discussion in your game in order of total toxic interactions about that topic. You can click on any of the Toxicity categories to filter the table to show the most discussed topics within the selected category. You can analyse these topics deeper by clicking the adjacent orange arrow.
For example, we have clicked into the "Servers" topic, so we are now viewing the Toxicity Summary for this topic.
As we can see from the above image, this topic is very toxic with a Toxicity rating of 63.
Studios can use Toxicity Analysis to identify and act on toxicity in the community so you can have a happier and healthier playerbase. If you are interested in getting Toxicity Analysis for your game(s), reach out and let us know via Email.
