Hi there,
PlayerXP includes 20 pre-built Categories based on how players typically talk about games. But sometimes your team needs to track something more specific. Some conversations in your community are unique to your game. A specific feature rollout, a mechanic under debate, a recurring issue after a patch. Custom Categories let you group Topics around features, mechanics, or discussions that are unique to your game.
Here’s how they help you go deeper:
🛠 Create and manage Custom Categories
Open Dashboard Customisation from your Hub, select your game, then go to the Custom Categories tab to create a new Category. Once created, it will appear in your Categories list under Custom Categories. To populate it, find the relevant Topics in the Topic Finder, click the tool icon, and select Assign Topic to Category.
You can also create a Custom Category directly from any Topic page by choosing Assign Topic to New Category.
If a discussion is unrelated to your game’s core experience, you can create an Isolated Category to track it separately without affecting overall sentiment aggregation.
🎯 Group feedback around the themes that matter
Once your Category is set up and Topics are assigned, PlayerXP will automatically group related conversations under that Custom Category. This lets you track those discussions alongside key metrics across your dashboards. You will be able to add Topics to the Category at any given time by clicking on "Add Topic to Category" from the Topic Page.
📊 Track sentiment with more control
Custom Categories appear across your dashboards, including Most Discussed Category, Competitor Analysis and Audience Type Segmentation views, so you can filter and monitor sentiment over time.

Most Discussed Categories help you move from reacting to individual comments to understanding the bigger picture of player concerns.
If you want help interpreting what you are seeing or setting up the right filters, just let us know.
